Yoga In The Dark For RNIB!

The challenges often faced by those with sight loss can be huge. This November we are partnering with Royal National Institute for the Blind and getting together to experience some of these challenges by holding a Restorative Yoga Class In The Dark.

Unplug to reconnect with yourself, letting your body & mind rest completely in this gorgeous 2 hour workshop, while at the same time supporting people with sight loss by focusing on your other senses.

Not only will we be raising funds to make every day better for those living with sight loss but we will also have the opportunity to awaken and focus on our other senses through yoga, without the use of sight!

This Yoga class is perfect for literally everyone! Our constantly switched-on way of living can deplete and exhaust us, placing huge strain on the nervous system with all sorts of repercussions for our health. We need to take time out to replenish our inner eco-system and this class is the way to do it!

This class is also a great introduction to Yoga and a wonderful gift idea for a loved one who you think would benefit from the incredible benefits of this ancient practice.

Perhaps you'll have been sitting at a desk all week and your neck and shoulders are feeling it? Or you've been hauling around young children and your back is sore? Maybe you are feeling a little overwhelmed, lacking energy or stressed and are in need of some spa like rest? Or perhaps you've been working out too hard at the gym or running and need some deep, releasing stretches?

During this restorative, floor based class we'll begin with controlled breathing (Pranayama), then move through Yin and Restorative poses, wrapping up our practice with a long & deeply nourishing Yoga Nidra or "yogic sleep".

Yoga Nidra is a powerful antidote to our modern day, stressed out lifestyles where our nervous system tends to be in a constant state of 'fight or flight'. It brings us to that place between sleep and consciousness where deep emotional and physical healing can take place. It is a fast track way for us to switch over to our "rest and digest" parasympathetic nervous system, which is where healing happens.

This practice is designed to restore the nervous system and help release deeply held tensions from the body and mind. We'll use props to support the postures, while gently stretching and strengthening the body.
